The A.S. degree in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provides you with supervisory level instruction related to emergency, out-of-hospital care under the direction of an emergency physician. Emergency medical services personnel direct and manage patient care aspects of the emergency response team. The Emergency Medical Services program is an Associate in Science degree program. It includes EMT, Paramedic, and general education coursework. Students certified as an emergency medical technician may be awarded up to 12 credit hours toward this program of study. Students certified as paramedics may be awarded up to 42 credit hours into this degree program.
Entry Requirement: You must obtain authorization from the EMS program director prior to registering for all or part of this program. You are advised to take the general education portion of this program prior to or after your paramedic training which requires extensive field exercises.
