This course chronologically outlines the economic, social, geographic, and political background of Florida from the time of discovery through settlement, colonization, and statehood. It focuses on current issues including the impact of urbanization, tourism, and industrialization. Topics in this course include but are not limited to historical explorations, political developments, population growth, and economic and environmental problems in the state of Florida.
