NUR 3289 - Foundations of Gerontology

This course is an introduction to the dynamics of aging and will cover assessment of normal physical changes of aging, wellness, and communication for the baccalaureate nurse. Explored are topics related to the diverse populations of aging patients with emphasis placed on the physiological, developmental, functional, cognitive, affective, cultural, ethical, legal, and social aspects of aging. Theoretical perspectives, research, and evidenced-based practice related to nursing management of selected aspects of aging will be examined from a relationship-centered, caring approach. This is an online and hybrid format course that incorporates web-based components.
