This course combines lecture and lab and is comprised of proper patient and specimen identification, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, professionalism and communication skills, safety, infection control, and blood collection procedures. It includes collecting blood specimens by venipuncture, skin puncture, dermal puncture, and arterial puncture including specimen transport and storage requirements, quality assurance, and quality control.
