This course provides information on the principles of periodontology pertinent to dental hygiene practice. Topics include tissues of the periodontium, local and systemic factors associated with periodontal disease, classification of periodontal diseases, clinical features of the gingiva in health and disease, periodontal assessment components, and motivational interviewing.
